Looks delicious yo_quiero! Great job on the video as well! I do wonder how that would taste on a low and slow cook..

I believe that translates to something like "I like to smoke" or "I want to smoke".

Anyone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Man, thanks for all the kind words and praise guys! I really love making these videos and keep trying new techniques with filming and editing. I'm recording on my phone and editing with windows movie maker.. extremely frustrating to work with!

Trucker, my spice grinder is just a spare coffee grinder. It makes a world of difference, I use it for every dry rub and it really helps even out the mix.

Ray, the recipe I used called for it to be cooked at 350 and I also wanted to see how the higher temp would treat the meat and I was very happy with it! I'm sure a low and slow would taste even better though.

Jim, thanks for checking out the blog! The biscuits tasted awesome and I would absolutely recommend trying them. The smoke flavor was subtle, but tied the meal together.

Derhusker, you're right it means "I want smoke" or "I want to smoke" in most contexts. I like to cook a lot of spanish food, and that inspired my username.

Hi,
I was wondering how you decided to use green tea as one of the ingredients for your smoked Kalua Pork? I own a Vision Kamado, reside in Mililani Hawaii on Oahu, am considering trying your recipe for smoked Kalua Pork. However can't imagine what flavor the green tea will impart on the smoked pork.
I grew up as a child, working at the local church luau, so have and continue to cook Kalua Pig in the traditional Imua (underground or in earth pit) using banana stumps, luau leaves, tea leaves, etc. to cover the salted pig.

Thanks for your fantastic detailed video, I enjoyed it very much - so much so, that I signed up as a member.

Aloha,

This is very intriguing, in fact I think I'll make it eventually. I will be smoking my first butt and picnic tonight on my vision classic. I think I will start with a basic rub for my first one before I get too fancy.

Hey Hawaiian man, if you try this out could you let me know how it stacks up to a pig cooked for a luau? My wife and I went to Hawaii 2 years ago for our honeymoon and we fell in love with the garden island of Kauai. That was where we went to the Smith family luau and ate the pig they serve. That was fantastic pork! Anyway I am interested in having a recipe for pulled pork that tastes as close to that style as possible.
