Thermometers deals

Postby stcharles_stl » Tue Aug 14, 2012 10:34 pm

This is my first post. I just purchased a CG Akorn last weekend and have been spending the last week reading and watching videos on cooking and mods. Long story short, I came across this website which offered great pricing for the Redi-Chek Maverick ET-73 and the Maverick Laser Surface Thermometer. Just wanted to share as they also offer free shipping.

That price is about right for the Mav ET-73, about a buck cheaper than what Amazon charges.

Be sure to compare specs with the ET-732 - I'm pretty sure it has more and better features, for about $20 more.

If you read on this site about the ET-73--a lot of people do not like them. One complaint is poor wireless range.
I found it confusing at first because usually the higher number is for the newer and better model but not in this case.

Yea I noticed some of the negative reviews but they are also pretty old dating back to 2004 so I was hoping some of the design flaws have been fixed. Does anyone have any comments on the laser thermometer? I have actually already ordered both.

Amazon has the ET-7 for $29.92, the ET-73 for $32.45, and the ET-735 for $79.99. Is the 735 that much better?? All are dual probe.

I've been using the ET-732 for about 18 months & it is great. However I added a couple of "Fantast" to my collection.

For $6.99 they are a good deal. They track the same temp. as my ET-732. If you cook two pork butts the second probe connected to a Fatast will come in handy.

This shows how little it really costs to make a good digital thermometer.

Definitely, the 732 is much better than the 73. In addition to the better range, it is physically better designed. It's worth the extra.

I'm not familiar with the 735.

I did a review of the IKEA Fantast thermometer in the Product Review part of this forum.

I found it to be a pretty good and very accurate, basic digital thermometer. I can buy seven of them for the cost of one Thermopen when they go on sale.

I'm going to IKEA next week to pick up several.

I will retain the wireless ones I have for cooks in lousy weather and in the Winter when it's colder outside. But for nicer, dryer weather, the Fantast will be my go to.
