Beer Brats

Beer Brats

Postby dchance » Fri Jul 20, 2012 10:52 pm

Haven't done this on the Kamado, but no reason why you couldn't. Very easy and great tasting beer brats.

Put brats in a pan ( I like the disposable foil pans for easy cleanup ) slice up an onion and add beer to the pan with your brats. I usually like to cover them at least halfway to 3/4 covered.

Use your grill to bring the beer to a boil. boil the brats in the beer and onions mix until done or very close. Remove the pan from the grill and put the brats back on the grill individually to brown and/or finish the cook. once the brats are browned on the outside and finished, remove from the grill and put back into the beer onion mixture.

serve and enjoy!!

Sometimes I do something very much like this except I brown first. I also add butter and kraut to the pan.

I grew up in Wisconsin. We'd do the above, but also we'd add butter to the beer and onion bath.

A little trick I learned a long time ago was to put the hot dogs, sausages, or burgers in the bun when you take them off the grill and put them right back in the bun package. The heat from the meat warms the buns nicely ( if you are using buns) and the bun wrapper keeps everything warm longer until everyone is ready to eat.
