I scored the Costco 569.99 Komado for 399.99! Sweet! I am looking forward to my transformation from surfer to contributor. Thanks in advance for all of the forthcoming knowledge.

Wow why didn't I think of that? It always bugs when when people have to open the lid to look. I could have one for cooking and another set as high as I can with wood chunks wrapped in foil. When they open the lid without burping it they get all the heat and smoke in their face. Then I can laugh and explain why I did it.

I know a guy that has three large BGEs he uses for competition one for each of his three entries. I don 't think I would like hauling around three big ceramic cookers but the akorn would be ideal.

Wow! nice deal. I just bought mine via costco.ca for $599. the warehouses in the entire area had already sold out @ that price. Still a good deal vs the BGE.... I hope... :?:

I am glad that I secured two cookers for that price. The first one I put together last night came with 2 chips on the exterior. Additionally, the firebox had some funky pitting. I tried to get Costco to further reduce my price. I took photos with me via a tablet. The front end supervisor was incomplete doing so, regarding my initial dissatisfaction.

I returned from my second trip to Winston Salem, NC and assembled the second kamado. This unit appears to have none of the aforementioned defects. However, I notice considerable spidering in the black coating?! Upon a side by side comparison between the units, the spidering is more prevalent on the second one. Has anyone else experienced this? This is purely and mildly cosmetic. I just hope it does not start to peel a couple of years down the road. As I mentioned before, once I establish an online photo account, your input will be highly garnered.

The reason for purchasing two grills was the killer price. If I can unload one as nib on craiglist or elsewhere, then hopefully I can further reduce my cost. What is that saying around here, "more money, more meat"!
On Friday, I will return the first grill and either p/u one they are holding for me or get back that cash.

On another note, I travelled to Greensboro as well. Of course I visited Costco, where someone had returned our grill. They said it developed a crack after the third cook?

Happy smokin' fellas!

At first I thought you were going for the ultimate two zone cooking set-up. :P

I have a Vision Pro S, and love it. It is my daily, go-to, work-horse kamado.
I'd keep them both-double the fun, double the cooking surface, double, triple, quadruple the cook methods and types. Look at the thread here "Hans and Franz."
Unless the firebox pitting produces really bad deteriorative flaking or serious cracking, I would not be too concerned. Unless the chips on the exterior are so deep that you believe them to be compromising the structural integrity of the whole unit, I'd just touch them up w/ a little of the provided paint.
Spidering of the surface should not be a big deal unless it starts flaking off. Vision customer service is excellent. I just bought a Primo XL, and it came pre-spidered/pre-crazed--no extra charge.
